Vox Dei Community was formed out of a group of people who began gathering as a church the Raymore/Belton area in 2001. Our desire was to live into a way of being the church that was fundamentally relational and that served the wider community.
In 2006, founding staff-member Rustin Smith became our lead pastor and now over a decade into the journey, we continue to be a growing church that finds life in the generative questions of “What is God doing?” and “How can we participate?” In September 2014, we rooted ourselves in a permanent location at 622 2nd Street in Belton, MO. Moving into a mid-century church building with great local history, we are renovating and making a home in the old town neighborhood. One of the keys to being a church-community that is mission-oriented is committing ourselves to living lives of overflow. That means creating space in which God can act (Receive), being vulnerable to others on the journey (Relate), and letting the resulting transformation animate our engagement of God’s mission in the world (Respond).
